1950s Red Chantilly Lace Cocktail Dress by Werle SOLD

1950s Red Chantilly Lace Cocktail Dress by Werle SOLD
Spectacular 1950s red cocktail dress of Chantilly lace by Werle of Beverley Hills. Daniel  Werle was the man who designed all those gorgeous day dresses and evening gowns for Loretta Young in her swirling entrances on the Loretta Young Show. What a 50s fashion fest that show was, and what entrance makers those dresses were. This is one of the best 50s party dresses I've seen, and it's beautifully made. All the various fabrics are of high quality, and there are four skirt layers. The top layer is the lace over taffeta, which has a black stiff netting layer over black organdy. I didn't need a petticoat because the skirt is that puffy. About a size 4, so the dress doesn't completely zip up the back of my form, it measures approx. 35" bust, 25" waist, full hips, 15" waist length, and 28" skirt length. A great find, with couture details like bound button holes and a hand sewn zipper, the dress is in excellent condition.
