1920s Japanese Embroidered Silk Kimono Robe SOLD
Lovely 1920s Japanese embroidered silk kimono that is shaded in the colors of a sunset from deep periwinkle blue on top to pale coral to deep coral at the hem. The large peacock is a very unusual motif for these kinds of kimonos, and so is the shading. It's one of the prettiest that I've found, and it's lined in silk that is almost the color of the coral at the hem. There is very slight padding behind the lining, and it's thicker at the hem. Because it wraps, this robe would fit a range of sizes. The measurements are approx. 52" across the top from sleeve end to sleeve end, 52" around, and 57" long. There are three darkish spots that are hard to see, and a small hole about 8" from the hem near the front right opening, but these flaws do not detract from the overall beauty or wearability of the piece. To wear or hang on a wall, the kimono is in otherwise excellent condition.
