1920s Art Deco Beaded Embroidered Dress



Fabulous 20s evening dress in black silk satin with an Art Deco design worthy of Erte or Poiret. With a beautiful bird with outstretched wings on the front and back, and wing designs on the two sides, it's a dramatic reminder of just how great the designs of this period were. Along with beads, rhinestones, and tiny pearls, there is silk floss embroidery and metallic thread making up the design motifs. There are a few beads and rhinestones missing here and there, and a little 1/2" mend at the back V, but nothing detracting from the overall drama and beauty of this dress, which is otherwise in excellent wearable condition. Also there is a piece of the silk fabric sewn to the inside that was apparently meant to hang down somehow, which I pinned up for the photos. It's original, along with the little inside hanging weights. About a size 8-10, the dress measures approx. 16" across the shoulders, up to 40" bust, 37" dropped waist, up to 40" hips, and 49" overall length. It's a great find from an era of fabulous design, and a wonderful addition to any vintage clothing collection. #VD332 SOLD
