1940s Black Crepe Dress Rhinestone Trim



This beautiful early 1940s rayon crepe gown has an elaborate neckline and back trim using beads and rhinestones on black net. It has a flattering sweetheart neckline gathered down the front with elbow length sleeves, and the front waistline comes to a point. I would say it is a size 6 or 8, but because of clever cutting and strategically placed gathers, it would fit quite a range. Here are the approximate measurements: up to 37" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 41" hips, although the skirt is fairly full. The skirt length is approx. 40", depending on the wearer, and it has an 11" front slit at the hem with rounded corners that is difficult to see in the photos. The black crepe is in very good condition with a few small pulls here and there, and there may be a few beads missing on the trim, but it is not noticeable.
