#VA065 1950s Galanos Velvet Hat from I. Magnin

Late 1950s Galanos hat from I. Magnin in a soft velvet printed with abstract roses in shades of brown with green on black. James Galanos was born in Philadelphia and sold fashion sketches to several New York designers, including Hattie Carnegie. Later, he apprenticed in Paris with Robert Piguet, started his own label in 1951, and gained a reputation for precisely executed and clever clothes that were beautifully cut. A classic and flattering pill box style, the hat measures approx. 9 1/4" across, 3 1/2" tall, and 21" around the inside hat band. It's in excellent condition.
