I have been collecting, buying and selling vintage clothing, textiles, jewelry and antiques for over 35 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I have exhibited and sold in the Vintage Fashion Expo, the Art Deco Show, the Arts and Crafts Show and the Hillsborough Antique Show. I also had a vintage clothing store from 1975-1978. I worked in display for Macy's and Nordstrom for almost 25 years as a
fashion trimmer, where I was able to use my knowledge of fashion and styling skills.
I love good design and craftsmanship, especially from the mid to late 19th and early to mid 20th centuries. This encompasses the Victorian, Arts and Crafts, Edwardian, Secessionist, Art Deco, and Modernist periods. Also featured on the website are vintage and ethnic pieces that are great representations of their eras, both for special occasion and everyday wear.
I try to include on my site early designers such as Boue Soeurs, Callot Soeurs, Gallenga, Lanvin, and Schiaparelli, through mid-century designers like Christian Dior, Jaques Fath, Lilli Ann, Emma Domb, Eisenberg, Peggy Hunt, Ceil Chapman, Dorothy O'Hara, Harvey Berin, Adele Simpson, Mr. Blackwell, Fira Benenson, Suzi Perette and GiGi Young. I've also had designers whose houses continue through the years, like Chanel, Yves St. Laurent, Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, Diane von Furstenberg, and quirky individualists like Geoffrey Beene, Jean Muir, Betsey Johnson, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Thierry Mugler, Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli and Giorgio Sant' Angelo. For contemporary designers, often with a retro feel, I will feature Zelda, Nanette Lepore, Anna Sui, Johnny Was, Odille and others.
I do feel that beautiful and interesting things, especially the many ethnic items I love so much, do not need labels, so I try to buy good design and workmanship in the clothing, textiles, jewelry, accessories and objects that I put on my site.
